Cowbell’s maths contest doubles prize money

The prize money for the latest season of Cowbellpedia Mathematics TV Quiz Show has been doubled to mark the 20th anniversary of Cowbell’s relationship with maths.

The fourth season of the maths competition show, featuring 108 secondary school students, is now underway and will last for 13 weeks.

Cowbell, the company behind the show, has announced that the student who secures first place will receive N2m and an all-expenses-paid trip abroad. Second and third place will receive N1.5m and N1m respectively. Teachers of the winning students will also be given N500,000, N400,000 and N300,000 for first, second and third place, respectively.

Cowbellpedia is airing nationwide on major TV channels including Africa Magic Family, NTA Ibadan, ABS Awka, STV Jos, NTA Kano, TVC Lagos and CRTV Calabar.

Anders Einarsson, MD of Cowbell parent company Promasidor Nigeria, said initiatives like Cowbellpedia had “been able to arouse and re-awaken the interest of students in mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforced the importance of the subject.”
