More than 400,000 people have registered for Gospel Music Africa

Lagos-based MFI Xquisite Koncepts is set to begin production on a gospel music talent show, with auditions being held next month.

According to the company, more than 400,000 people from 25 African countries have registered for Gospel Music Africa (GMA). These countries include Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Ethiopia and Cameroon.

Auditions will take place in Abuja, Owerri and Lagos on April 19, 22 and 30, respectively. The show aims at inspiring and nurturing talented young gospel singers. It will feature 30 participants, who will compete for a cash prize of US$20,000, a new car and international recording deals.

GMA exec producer Matthew Obono said: “The time has come for gospel musicians to make spiritual impact, reap financial dividends from their talents and occupy the highest echelons of stardom in Africa without feeling the need to succumb to secular music for their meal tickets.’’

The show has been developed and is being produced by Lagos-based events production company MFI Xquisite Koncepts. It will be hosted and supported by Cross River State.

The producers have yet to announce the launch date of the show or which channels will be airing it.
